Amber & Walnut Ensuite | Camden
Two rooms combined into one generous ensuite, finished in green stone, oxblood tile, walnut and brushed brass.
Project brief
The house had an ensuite and a separate shower room, and neither suited the character of the property.
The clients wanted to combine them into one large ensuite with space for a freestanding bath, a walk-in shower and a double vanity, finished in colour and rich materials that reflected their own taste. The design splits the new room into two zones. Green stone-effect porcelain wraps the walk-in shower and the vanity wall, and glossy oxblood "kit-kat" tiles line the bath end, with a translucent amber freestanding bath as the centrepiece. Walnut, brushed brass and a dark-painted ceiling run through both.
Designer's note:
The combined space gives the shower, vanity and bath each their own area. The walk-in shower sits at the window end behind a single frameless glass panel.
An exposed brass shower column with a traditional rose head suits the age of the house, and an LED-lit niche is set into the back wall. The vanity is a freestanding walnut piece with faceted edges on slim black legs. Its green stone top matches the wall behind it, and twin bowl basins sit beneath wall-mounted brass mixers and tall faceted walnut mirrors. The kit kat tiles wrap the bath alcove around a rounded corner. The dark ceiling runs across the whole room, which makes what used to be two rooms feel like one.

The results
Two rooms became one ensuite with two distinct moods, tied together by walnut, brushed brass and a single dark ceiling.
