Green Letterbox & Brass | Islington
A shower room renovation combining majolica-effect letterbox tiles, brushed brass, and bespoke dark timber joinery.
Project brief
The clients wanted to replace a generic shower room with something richer in material and more in keeping with their period home. They were drawn to colour and texture but needed the room to work day to day, with storage for two.
The design pairs green majolica-effect tiles in a vertical letterbox format with brushed brass fittings and bespoke dark timber joinery. LED-lit open shelving beside the vanity and a recessed wall cabinet above the WC keep storage integrated without breaking the palette.
Designer's note:
The layout places the shower enclosure at the window end of the room, making use of the natural light. Brass-framed sliding glass doors keep the enclosure feeling open.
The material zoning is deliberate. Green tile is confined to the wet zone, terrazzo-effect stone wraps the WC partition, and the remaining walls are left painted to keep the room from feeling heavy. Dark timber ties the vanity, shelving, and wall cabinet together as a single joinery language.
The results
A richly textured shower room where every surface and fitting works within a single, cohesive material palette.
